WORK & PLAY

The supreme accomplishment is to blur the line between work and play.

Hosting a Business Event | Off-Page Marketing Techniques

a group of business men are sitting around a board-room table

Hosting a business event is an important, and can be an entertaining, activity.

Many of us online- entrepreneurs are more bent towards an introverted personality than an extroverted one. We are in our element when our fingers are tapping away at the keyboards and the light from the computer screen is illuminating our face.

We often feel reluctant to socialize and when we do we want to do so when we want and with whom we want. In the perfect world that would be possible but we do not live in a perfect world.

In the real world we are online entrepreneurs. We are business people with dreams, hope, aspirations, goods and services that we need others to know about.

This means marketing. It means marketing our product and or service. And there is no better person who knows what we are doing or what the product / service is meant to do than our selves. And there is no better way to do so than hosting a business event.

There is no better way to market our product and our self than by hosting a series of business socials. A sort of ‘lets meet and exchange cards and ideas. Let´s meet and see how we can work together’. Every body wants to work with the person who organizes a well run, well attended purposeful business event !

So be that person!

This social function may be as simple as an informal buffet dinner at your favorite restaurant or as formal as a hosting a business seminar, or being a guest speaker at a school, college or community event. It could also be organizing a team of entrepreneurs to display or purchase booths at the “meet the entrepreneur” show. It could be sponsoring a golf tournament to raise fund for your favorite local charity.

To get some great ideas, to join up with other like -minded people or to start your own group check out Meetup.

Four things to remember are:

1. Write a press release

2. Have business cards and other promotional items on hand.

3. Many business deals are oftentimes not made in the boardroom but on the golf course and other other places.

4. Invite the local media- columnists' write entertainment, sports, science news- invite as many as possible to cover your event from different angles.
