The Right Tools and Support

a finger is poised over a computer mouse, ready to use the mouse to engage in online marketing

The right or wrong tools can make or break your business before you even get it off the ground.

When starting an online internet e-business there is a slew of right tools and resources that are available. While many may be important, some are more important than others.

The first must-have tool on the list is a computer and a printer. To get a good idea about the basic computer click here.

Though not a ‘tool’ in the traditional sense another must have is an (ISP) internet service provider preferably one with high speed and who also hosts websites.

Many people may not consider this third item a ‘tool’, but it is. Though an online business there is still need for a business plan. The business plan is the road map is the road map for this entrepreneurial journey.

For our online presence we need to have a website that reflects our e-business. But before we build it we need to register a domain name. It is a good online marketing strategy that the domain name chosen reflects the e-business and also be a highly profitable key word. Many people make the mistake of registering their name as part of the business eg 'Joe's Tools'. If yours is a name that is already established and is branded like 'Pamela Anderson' or 'Cher' then registering your business using your name makes good marketing sense. If it is not, then doing so is somewhat futile. People who search the internet for goods, services, information do not know about you. They will not be putting into the search box -Joe's Screwdrivers'. They will, mostly likely, entering a search phrase that says 'cheap tools' or cheap screwdrivers'.

If time is of the essence then it is best to skip learning HTML from scratch. There are 3 other options in lieu of learning HTML. These are:

1) buy a template and just fill in the information where needed

2) buy a WYSIWYG Html editor such as FrontPage

3) Hire a web designer.

For more info on the pros and cons of options 1 and 2 click here.

Regardless of the decision keep in mind that the finished product –‘the look and feel’-must be as professional as it is appealing. A website is a calling card and the notion that ‘you only get one time to make a first impression’ is still applicable. In the extra fast world of web-marketing that means less than10 seconds to capture each visitor´s attention!

The right online tools and supports also include ‘content’. Every site needs content. Content is text, graphics-pictures or photos-, and audio. All content, whether graphic, audio or text must reflect the site´s theme and message.

For text content it is always a good idea to write your own. If you want to, but feel that you need to sharpen your writing skill, Site Sell It! has a wonderful course entitled Make Your Content Sell. If you feel daunted by the task you can use the services of content writers. Some graphic content is available for free. upload our own pictures and photos. Many sites provide free graphics so you can also use those while paying attention to their use of product stipulations.

What ever business we decide on is okay. But to be successful it should be founded on these two online marketing strategies: It should be at least a fairly rich niche and structured around one or more than one of the best-rated-home-based-business-opportunities 5 monetization models.
